A brand-new adventure has arrived in the Wild Britain: Habitat Tales collection!
I’m delighted to share that Fern and the Summer Storm, the third book in my Wild Britain: Habitat Tales series, is now available!
Following our adventures through the woodland with Jasper and along the coast with Bramble, this time we’re heading into a beautiful British wildflower meadow, where there’s a whole world of wildlife waiting to be discovered.

Meet Fern
Fern is a curious young hare who loves exploring her meadow home. Surrounded by colourful wildflowers, buzzing bees and fluttering butterflies, there’s always something new to see.
But when dark clouds begin to gather and a summer storm sweeps across the meadow, Fern suddenly finds herself facing an unfamiliar and rather frightening world.
With a little courage and some help from the friends she meets along the way, including Barley the Badger, Skye the Skylark and Thimble the Shrew, Fern discovers that even the stormiest days can lead to something beautiful.
It’s a gentle story about courage, friendship, resilience and the wonderful ways nature recovers after a storm.

Discover the Magic of Wildflower Meadows
As with every book in the Wild Britain: Habitat Tales collection, Fern’s adventure is about more than just the story.
Wildflower meadows are some of Britain’s most beautiful and important habitats, providing food and shelter for an incredible variety of wildlife, from butterflies and bees to birds and small mammals.
Sadly, Britain has lost around 97% of its species-rich grasslands since the 1930s, making the protection and restoration of these habitats more important than ever.
Through Fern’s adventure, I hope to encourage young readers to look a little closer at the natural world around them and discover just how much life can be found amongst the grasses and flowers.
A Little More to Explore
At the back of the book, young nature lovers will find educational pages designed to bring the story into the real world.
Children can learn more about wildflower meadow habitats, discover fascinating facts about hares and other meadow wildlife, and explore why these beautiful habitats are so important to Britain’s biodiversity.
From spotting butterflies amongst the flowers to listening for birdsong on a countryside walk, Fern’s adventure encourages children to take a closer look at the natural world and appreciate the wildlife living right on their doorstep.

Stories That Give Back
Fern and the Summer Storm is the third title in my eight-book Wild Britain: Habitat Tales collection, celebrating the wonderful wildlife and diverse habitats found across the British Isles.
As with the rest of the series, 25% of profits from every copy sold will be donated to Hampshire & Isle of Wight Wildlife Trust, helping support their vital conservation work.
It’s a small way of making sure these stories give something back to the natural world that inspires them.
